Searching to Understand
More about Coaching?

Whether you are looking to understand:

  • What is Coaching?

  • How does Coaching differ from Consulting, Psychotherapy, Mentoring, etc.?

  • What does a Coach do?

  • How do I find and select a quality Coach?

  • What resources are available for me to learn more about Coaching?

This site is a good place to start.  We provide brief explanations of life coaching and business coaching concepts.  We answer  common questions - and/or refer you to other sites.

New material is being added frequently, so come back often.

For us, building this site is a fun diversion from our coaching activities.  We hope you enjoy and find the answers you seek in the material.  We use graphics freely where we think they can help the reader understand the basic concepts more quickly and more completely.  These coaching concepts are generally valid whether your interest is life coaching, executive coaching, corporate coaching or any other variety of coaching.

What we present are our opinions as coaches, informed by our training and experience.  Others may have differing opinions from what we present on this site and we may all be right, as there is no life coach or business coach who is the ultimate expert on coaching.  The disclaimer at the bottom of this page supports this idea and is sprinkled liberally throughout this site.

We welcome any suggestions you may have to improve this site, including questions or comments you would like to see addressed.  Please use Contact Us to send us your comments.

Reading Resources:

Visit the Favorite Coaching Books page to view a list of books personally selected and reviewed by us.  We identify what we feel are the strengths of the book and the audience for which the book is most appropriate.

Also, check out the Coaching Articles page to discover some good articles that are available on the internet.

The materials presented in this site are the opinions of the authors and do not fully cover any aspect of coaching.  These materials are presented to help you understand the basic nature of coaching and what you might expect from a coach.  Should you hire a coach, your experience is likely to differ in at least some respects from what is presented here.  Different schools of coaching vary in their approach to coaching and the precise definition of many terms.  Each coach brings her or his own personality, strengths and experience to the coaching relationship.

The materials presented on this site are NOT a substitute for coach training, NOR are they sufficient to substitute for working with a coach.  All good coaches have a coach, regardless of their years training and coaching.  You would need to attend an intensive training program with structured coaching experiences to become competent in the coaching basics.  The materials presented in one website or one book can only scratch the surface.
